I started Contessa Volpi with the purpose of creating swimwear that would truly help women feel confident in their own skin, even when feeling our most exposed.
As the years passed, I evolved, and so did Contessa Volpi. I wanted to create pieces that would stand the test of time — timeless, beautiful and more sustainable in a world of fast fashion. I tried to create a product made with quality fabrics and craftsmanship, while also supporting local Australian business.
It has been a 10-year journey, full of joy, challenges, beautiful moments and struggles along the way. But without a doubt, it has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.
And now, with a very heavy heart, I have made the difficult decision to bring Contessa Volpi to a close.
For personal reasons, I need to step away and dedicate more of my time to supporting my family back in Italy for the foreseeable future. It has not been an easy decision, especially after pouring so much of my heart into Contessa Volpi over the past ten years, but I know it is the right one for me and my family at this time.
Contessa Volpi was never just a business to me. It was a little piece of my heart. It was the dream of an Italian girl who came to Australia and dared to believe she could create something of her own.
And somehow, you helped me make that dream come true.
To every beautiful woman who bought a Contessa Volpi piece, wore it on a beach somewhere in the world, sent me a message, shared a photo, told a friend, or simply supported my journey — thank you. You have no idea what your support has meant to me.
I am also endlessly grateful for all the wonderful people I have met along the way. People who started as customers, suppliers, collaborators or strangers, and became part of my story. Some of you supported me simply because you believed in a small Australian business and in the woman behind it. That kindness will stay with me forever.
And to my family and friends — thank you for every word of encouragement, every helping hand, every late night and every moment you stood beside me when things were difficult. I could never have done this without you.
I don’t know exactly what the next chapter will bring, but I know I will look back at these ten years with an enormous sense of gratitude and pride.

SUSTANAIBILITY
Contessa Volpi uses a high quality, Italian Lycra using ECONYL®, which is a yarn that comes from 100% regenerated materials such as fishing nets and other plastic pieces recovered from the ocean. There’s just something so poetic about taking ocean waste and turning it into beautiful, luxury swimwear.
Beyond the swimwear itself, all Contessa Volpi orders are shipped using sustainable packaging that can easily be composted at home.
Enrica says, "Contessa Volpi was born from my deep belief that fashion should be beautiful, ethical, and intentionally created.
Conscious of overproduction, I choose to produce only a very limited number of pieces each year — each swimsuit 100% Australian-designed and lovingly handmade here in Sydney. This allows me to focus on quality, craftsmanship, and the small details that make every piece feel truly special.

For those who are new here, I’d love to introduce myself.
I’m Enrica Volpi, founder of Contessa Volpi.
My journey began in Milan, where I studied fashion at the New Academy of Fine Arts and worked alongside renowned designers in Northern Italy.
Later, I spent a year travelling across Australia and completely fell in love with its lifestyle, culture, and breathtaking natural landscapes.
That experience inspired me to create Contessa Volpi — a luxury and sustainable swimwear brand proudly 100% designed and made in Australia.
I founded Contessa Volpi with one simple belief: every woman is beautiful, at every size and every age. Each piece I design is created to enhance natural curves, helping women feel comfortable, confident, and effortlessly sexy, celebrating themselves exactly as they are.
